Today I want to introduce you to a friend/past client of mine whose story I think you’ll understand. If you are longing to have a website that speaks to your ideal clients or if you have a website that is outdated or causing you frustration, then you’ll want to keep reading!

Suzan Colón is a yoga teacher, former Senior Editor of O, the Oprah Magazine and author of multiple books including her most recent, Yoga Mind: Journey Beyond the Physical.

When she found me, Suzan was writing a new book, Yoga Mind, which she would be shopping around to potential publishers. She had been searching for the right person to help her transform her outdated website into a resource that would better reflect her current focus and would attract the right publisher.

One of the values I hold dear in my business is to help people who are creating positive change in the world. So I was on board right away once I met Suzan and she told me that her goal is to help people “bring the peace of Yoga into every part of life.”

As a web designer who is also a yoga and certified yoga instructor, I was the perfect fit to assist Suzan accomplish her website goals.

After our initial consultation and visioning call, we broke down the main goals of our project into the following tasks.

Suzan needed someone to help her:

  • Create a website that she could easily manage and update on her own
  • Clarify her target audience(s)
  • Update and organize a wealth of information and content
  • Highlight her expertise and extensive resume

When we began, Suzan wasn’t sure how to position herself, and for which audience. She completed my series of questionnaires to help clear away confusion around the messages she wanted to convey and how to best present it.

Through a series of questions and conversations, Suzan found a lot of clarity about her target audience: current fans of her work and book publishers.

She wanted her site to be informational for fans of her past books and writings. Suzan also felt it was important to highlight her expertise as well as her personality in order to appeal to potential publishers for the new book she was writing.

And on top of all that, she was hoping to find a way to weave in her personality through her knowledge as a yoga instructor and ongoing yoga student.

Suzan had put off a website redesign for a while partly because she worried that it would take too much time or be too confusing or stressful. By the time she found me, it was way outdated and no longer represented her current career focus.

With the creative strategies and the carefully organized process that I have developed during my 10+ years of web design experience, Suzan was surprised by how painless and fun it could be to create a beautiful website.

Through my visioning, strategy and design process Suzan was able to go from having an outdated website that lacked a clear purpose to a cohesively branded “online home” which speaks to her target audience and truly represents her personality and expertise.

One of the most important goals Suzan had for her website project was that she wanted to be able to easily update her website all by herself.

We built her site around WordPress, which is very user-friendly and easy for even the least tech-savvy person.

In addition to finally having a beautiful “online home” that she loves, Suzan was able to pitch her new yoga book, Yoga Mind, (which is now available in bookstores!) to publishers confidently with an updated website that highlighted the perfect blend of her expertise and personality.

Taylor’s unique method of discovery revealed key points about my business and brand that I hadn’t seen before. I don’t just have a website, I have an online home people love to visit. What a transformation it was! I love my website, and it is such a gift in being able to tweak small changes myself. I truly believe her Cinderella update to my site helped me get my book deal! If you’re looking to up your game and put your best online foot forward, this is the answer.” – Suzan Colón
