As a busy business owner, you know the importance of having a professional website that truly represents who you are and what you do. So you make the investment of your precious time and resources to create a website. But once it’s all set up, you probably find yourself wondering how to get people to actual go see it. And even more importantly, how do you turn those website visitors into clients and customers.

These are two of the questions we hear the MOST as a creative agency working with motivated intentional entrepreneurs; and it’s obviously a really important part of growing your business.

One of the best ways to accomplish both of these goals is to use an opt-in freebie on your website. An opt-in freebie is something that you offer to your website visitors as an incentive to sign up for your email list. It’s basically giving something away to people in exchange for their email address and their permission to contact them with promotional content.

Draw in your ideal clients with an email opt-in freebie

When you create an opt-in freebie for your email list, you want to think about it from your ideal clients’ perspective. What are they struggling with? What questions do they need answered? What could you create that would help them in some way?

Some examples of opt-in freebies that work include:

  • Checklist (how-to sheet or step by step instructions for completing a task or goal)
  • Cheat sheet (tips and tricks)
  • Worksheet
  • Workbook
  • eBook
  • Audio or video recording (such as a guided meditation or training)
  • Email course (ex: “30 day challenge” or “1 week of daily mantras/inspiration”

When you have a freebie to offer people, you can also use that as a marketing tool. Once you have the opt-in form set up on your website, you can promote it on social media. This way, you can draw in people who would benefit from the freebie you created. These are your ideal clients and this is a great way to get them to your website!

Get your website viewers to take action

Opt-in freebies are such a great business growth tactic because it encourages potential clients and customers to actually take action on your website. These are the people who are browsing your site and are interested in your offerings, but maybe not quite ready to hire you or make a purchase.

Having a Call To Action (CTA) such as an email opt-in form on your website is super important because it gives these people a way to hear more from you without having to commit right away. And providing an opt-in freebie is going to encourage even more people to go ahead and sign up.

It’s a win-win situation

The idea behind giving them something for free beneficial for both parties for a number of reasons. Obviously, it’s important to collect contact information from potential clients so that you can send them promotional information that will hopefully turn them into a paying customer at some point.

But when someone signs up for your email list it also helps them. You’re helping them find answers to a question they have or solutions to a problem they are struggling with. And in doing so, you are building trust with potential clients because you’re willing to share your knowledge and experience free of charge. Once they get a glimpse of how your expertise is beneficial to them, they are more likely to become an avid follower and possibly hire you or make a purchase from you.
