One of the things I hear from new clients the most is that they really needed a website a long time ago. Why didn’t they build a website sooner? Not enough time! Sounds familiar, right? That’s why I put this post together to show you how to create a WordPress website in less than 5 minutes!
There are two things that are required when creating a new website: hosting and a domain name.
Hosting is the space on the internet where you website files live. If you want to create a self-hosted WordPress website, which I recommend, you will need to have your own hosting account.
A domain name is the address where your people can find your website. For example, my domain name is codelovecreative.com.
In this post, I’ll show you how to set up your hosting account and create a WordPress website super easily!

Step one: Sign up for your Hosting account
Head over to Flywheel Hosting and click the “sign up for free” button.
Step two: Verify your account
Verify your account with your phone number or credit card.
Step three: Create a WordPress website
Click the green “Create a new site” button.
Step four: Enter website details
Fill out the form to create a new WordPress site. The “temporary domain” is the domain name you will use until you purchase your own on a third party site such as GoDaddy. Under “WordPress User” you will enter the username and password you want use when logging into your new website. Be sure to save this! You will need it to login once your site is ready.
Step five: Choose a plan
Under “How would you like to pay?” there are a few options. If you select “my client will pay later” it will let you set up a demo site to try it out first. However, your site will be set to private, meaning people can only access it with a password. So it’s a good way to play around with the website to make sure you like the service, but is not a permanent hosting solution. Once you enter billing info, it will take it off of private mode.
Step six: Check your email for confirmation of your new website
Once you make your selections and complete the form, you’ll see a screen that says your site is being created. Once it’s done, you’ll receive an email. As promised, it doesn’t take long at all!
Once you get the email, be sure to save it in a safe place. It has the link to login to your website and your username. You can click directly from the email to check out your new site.
Now you have a new WordPress website!
Every new WordPress installation uses their default theme, which controls the look and feel of the website. You can customize your new website by playing around with the settings in the WordPress admin area and trying out different free themes from the WordPress theme directory or premium themes from sites like Theme Forest, Creative Market or Elegant Themes.
